On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to welcome all the participants to the 4th Public Policy and Data Science International Conference “Territories and Societies in Network” organized by the School of Public Management, Communication and Tourism of the Bragança Polytechnic University (EsACT-IPB). Located in the heart of the Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro region, Mirandela offers an inspiring environment for a unique academic and cultural experience.

The School of Public Management, Communication and Tourism was founded in 1995 as a branch of the Bragança School of Technology and Management. In 2008, it became autonomous and adopted its current name, which reflects its own identity and areas of expertise: public management, communication and tourism. These areas are fundamental for both the Polytechnic University of Bragança and the development of the region in which it is located. By promoting the region’s technological assets and cultural heritage, EsACT-IPB offers a wide range of qualifications (professional and scientific Master’s Degrees, Undergraduate Degrees, Diplomas of Higher Education and post-graduate diplomas) in the areas of public management, communication and tourism. The school’s policy of internationalization has put it on the map of the international academic community, particularly among Portuguese-speaking countries.

The fact that EsACT-IPB has hosted many scientific events along the years shows the strength of its academic community and the dynamics of its environment. As experienced researchers, we are keen to make the 4th Public Policy and Data Science International Conference a success by providing participants with a space for high-quality scientific debate and opportunities of meetings and networking.
