GETTING TO MIRANDELA
By plane:
Sevenair connects to Vila Real or Bragança from Viseu, Cascais and Portimão, with two daily flights. From Vila Real or Bragança it is then possible to rent a car or take a bus to Mirandela. More information: https://flysevenair.com/en/services/airline/
For international flights, the nearest airport is Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, from where you can take buses to Mirandela (see below), or rent a car. From Oviedo (OVD) it is possible to fly to Porto (OPO) with one stopover. There are direct flights from Madrid to Porto operated by several airline companies. The flight lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once at the Porto airport, you should take a bus to Mirandela. Companies such as Rede-Expressos and FlixBus offer this service. The bus ride from Porto airport to Mirandela takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.
By train:
Unfortunately, the Tua railway line has been deactivated. Coming from Spain, it is possible to take the high-speed train between Madrid and Zamora and from there go to Mirandela by rental car or bus.
By bus:
Alsa operates the route from Oviedo to Mirandela but generally requires a stopover. The total duration of the trip can vary, but is usually approximately 7 to 16 hours, depending on the connection. The bus departs from Oviedo Bus Station and arrives at Mirandela Bus Station.
Alsa offers routes from Madrid to Mirandela. Depending on the time, there may be direct or one-stop trips. The duration of the trip is approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes to 5 hours and 30 minutes. Buses usually depart from Madrid South Bus Station.
From Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto there are several connections by Rede-Expressos and Flixbus that stop in Mirandela. In fact, Flixbus has a direct daily connection between Porto Airport and Mirandela.
The Mirandela Bus Station is a five-minute walk from EsACT-IPB.

By car:
The best options within Portugal are taking the A4 that starts from Porto and goes straight to Mirandela. The trip takes about 1h30 to 2h. It is also possible to come from the south, through Viseu, on the A24, and take the A4 near Vila Real, a journey that will take about 1h30.
Coming from Spain, from Oviedo the distance is approximately 366km, and the estimated travel time is 3 hours and 48 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. The main route follows the A-66.
The drive from Madrid to Mirandela is approximately 411 km and the estimated driving time is 4 hours and 16 minutes. The main route is via the A-6.
Getting around Mirandela:
Mirandela is a largely flat city, making it very easy to walk or cycle everywhere. There are taxis in the city, especially at the bus station near EsACT-IPB, and at the taxi rank at Parque do Império.
